Terpilih Sebagai 21 Heroes 2021, Gubernur Anies Sebut Hasil Kolaborasi Seluruh Warga DKI Jakarta

Governor Anies Chosen as 21 Heroes 2021

from the beginning we opened the widest possible opportunity for the public to be involved in planning the development of the transportation system

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, named as one of the “heroes” in 21 Heroes 2021 by the international organization Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI). The governor, along with 20 other people, including SpaceX and Tesla Production Architect Founder and Chief Executive, Elon Musk and Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo, were selected, because of the successful transformation of urban mobility that has improved the quality of life of all citizens.

In the official TUMI document, it is stated that 21 Heroes 2021 is an event to honor those who achieve transportation success in 2020, regardless of the historical challenges faced (the pandemic) and lay the groundwork for more successful and sustainable mobility initiatives by 2021. The individuals highlighted are a small, but strong, group of many people who are actively contributing to making mobility future-oriented, safe, inclusive and sustainable.

According to TUMI, during the leadership of Anies, Jakarta had experienced a significant increase in terms of mass public transportation even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Which was why he was deemed to have succeeded in transforming a mass public transport system that was comfortable and inclusive for all. One of which was the integration of Bus Rapid Transit which is implied into the Jak Lingko system.

Aside that, he also had succeeded in changing the paradigm of priority for transportation support facilities, where roads for pedestrians became development priorities, followed by emission-free vehicles (bicycles), mass public transportation and private vehicles. Thus this paradigm made the Jakarta Provincial Government to aggressively make improvements in revitalizing sidewalks and making 63-km bicycle lanes. Even, because of this transformation, the city also rewarded with the 2020 STA Award.

While the Governor Anies explained, this achievement was the result of joint work with all levels of the city government and collaboration with various parties thus the planning of the transportation transformation system in Jakarta is a form of public participation that is well done by the local government.

"Moreover, from the beginning we opened the widest possible opportunity for the public to be involved in planning the development of the transportation system," he said, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Friday (2/5).
